Audience type.

How we determine the audience type and what we consider to be a good audience.

A good audience consists of your real followers, commercial accounts and influencers. We exclude suspicious accounts and mass followers.

Why distinguish between types of accounts? When an influencer or creator post your promo, it's important for people to see it. It’s important to reach the right people (target audience). That's why we segment the audience — to understand how much followers might see the post. Here's an example of audience types shown as a graph:

TypeHow do we identify them?
Suspicious (most likely bots or inactive accounts)Based on a set of indicators: whether the avatar is set, patterns of behavior with respect to following and unfollowing, the quantity and quality of photos, comments, mentions, hashtags and descriptions in the account header. Our formula uses machine learning.
Commercial (sell products or services on Instagram)Based on a set of indicators: account name, business type of profile, the presence of business-related words in the description.
Mass followersFollows more than 1,500 other accounts.
InfluencersAccounts with 100,000 followers are definitely influencers. For accounts with between 5,000 and 100,000 followers, we also consider the number of accounts followed and patterns of behavior with respect to publishing posts.
RealAccounts that are NOT suspicious, commercial, mass followers, or influencers.
